- After the abolition of one unit, Balochistan attained the status of a Province on 1st of July, 1970. The Govt: of Balochistan notified its, "1st Inspection Team" on 02nd September 1970 named as “Governor’s Inspection Team” On 21st September, 1978.
- The name was changed to Provincial Inspection Team, without altering its functions.
- However, since 1986, it is functioning as Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, Balochistan.
- The functions of the CMIT are defined in the Government of Balochistan Rules of Business 1976 (as amended from time to time).
The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team Comprises a Chairman (B-21) and Seven Members (B-20) with other supporting staff. The Team is mandated to carry out Inspections of development schemes all over the Province and submit the inquiry reports to the Chief Executive of the Province through the Chief Secretary as per the Rules specified in the Govt: of Balochistan Rules of business, 1976. The orders, received on such reports, are then transmitted to the concerned authorities for taking action as per approval granted by the Chief Minister.
