Unavoidable to transform land settlement system of Revenue Dept., says CM

Matters of land settlement in Quetta, Kalat and Makran divisions reviewed; CM directs to resolve land settlement issues meeting all legal requirements; calls for utilizing modern technology to save record of lands in province


The Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has underlined the need to transform the land settlement system of the Revenue Department being run for last several decades.

“It is an unavoidable to change the land settlement system of the Revenue Department as per the needs of the present era”, stressed the Chief Minister while addressing a meeting to review the matters of land settlement here on Tuesday.

The Provincial Minister Revenue, Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa, Chief Secretary, Captain (Retd) Fazeel Asghar, senior Member Board of Revenue, Qamar Masood and other concerned high ups were present in the meeting.

The meeting reviewed progress on the related matters of the land settlement in Quetta, Kalat and Makran divisions.

Senior Member Board of Revenue briefed the meeting about progress into the related matters.

The Chief Minister on the occasion said that the people faced problems due to non-availability of the record of settled land. Numerous cases are filed in the courts of law to decide, he maintained.

He also said that the revenue officers need to fully aware of their responsibilities in this regard. Only the effective land settlement system can bring substantial results, adding he stressed.

He called upon to resolve the land settlement issues keeping in view all the legal aspects and requirements as major part of the province consists of the mountainous terrain.

He also stressed the need to utilize the modern technology in order to preserve the record of lands.

The compilation of data of the land would also help prepare complete profile of the same, he believed.

In the end, Chief Minister directed to submit him the detailed report and recommendations presented in the meeting.
