Opposition to be taken on board on LG System: Balochistan cabinet approves formation of Provincial Disaster Management Commission
Cabinet approves draft of bill of Nazra Qura’an education in public and private primary schools; decides to empower local bodies, grant administrative and financial powers to UCs; powers of transfers & postings and disciplinary action transferred to Divisional and District Officers in Education Dept.; fateha offered for departed souls of those die in mishaps during snowfall as well as those killed in Ghousabad’s suicide blast
The Balochistan cabinet has approved in principle the formation of Provincial Disaster Management Commission here on Friday.
The provincial cabinet was met with the Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan in the chair. Also in attendance were the Chief Secretary, Captain (Retd), Fazeel Asghar, Additional Chief Secretaries as well as the provincial government departments’ secretaries besides the cabinet members.
The cabinet discussed various important matters and accorded approval to certain others.
The cabinet offered fateha for the departed souls of those died in different incidents and mishaps during the recent heavy spell of snow and rainfall in various parts of the province.
The fateha was also offered for the departed souls of those killed in the suicide blast in Ghousabad area of Quetta recently.
The cabinet while discussing various matters approved the draft of the bill regarding declaration of Nazra Qura’an education (reading of Qura’an) in all the government and private schools of the province.
As per the law, the education of Nazra Qura’an would be mandatory for the children studying in the government and private schools all over the province.
Moreover, the cabinet also approved the transfer of powers at lower level in the education department.
As per the decision made in the cabinet, the powers of transfers and postings of the government employees serving in different grades have been transferred to the divisional and district level officers.
The divisional and district officers would also be empowered to take disciplinary action against the officials at the divisional and district level respectively.
Yet in another important development, the provincial cabinet decided to take the opposition on board on the matter of Local Government system.
It was decided that the opposition parties and parliamentarians would be consulted before finalizing LG system in the province.
The cabinet also decided to form a committee to make consultation with the opposition parties / parliamentarians in this regard.
Moreover, there was consensus on empowering the local bodies and giving financial and administrative powers especially to the local bodies in the province. The meeting decided to strengthen further the LG system so as to resolve the public issues at their doorstep.
