Implementation on wrong development decisions unfeasible, maintains CM

Jam Kamal directs to ensure high standard of medical colleges in Balochistan; asks to review design of Quetta Dental College

The Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has asserted that implementation on the wrong development decisions made in the past is virtually not feasible and as such there is a need to make them viable making their assessment so as to benefit the common men.

This was stated by him while chairing a meeting held to give final shape to certain important projects of the health sector here on Tuesday.

The Provincial Finance Minister, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Secretary Health, Secretary Higher Education and other concerned high ups were in attendance.

The meeting reviewed the matters pertaining to land of Khuzdar Medical College and Turbat Medical College and smart design of the buildings of Loralai Medical College and Quetta Dental College besides the facilities provided to population of the areas located nearby.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that we need to look at the matters in broader perspects and take decisions keeping in view the future requirements so as to yield far reaching results of the initiatives taken.

He also stressed the need to keep all technical aspects in view with regard to establishment of the medical colleges as well as to ensure attendance of the faculty and other staff there.

“Strength of the male and female students getting admission in the medical institutions should also be ensured as per the standard of the higher education so that the people are benefitted from the positive effects and outcome of the investments made in the vital sector”, he maintained.

The Chief Minister also underlined the need to improve the functioning of the existing universities in the province. He was of the view that students of the province would get opportunity to prove their mettle and capabilities in the medical sector with establishment of medical colleges.

He on the occasion directed to ensure high standard of the medical colleges operating in the province.

There was also presentation on the proposed building of Quetta Dental College to be established costing Rs. 1395.86 million.

Moreover, the meeting decided to form a committee on the proposed project of Khuzdar Medical College to be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development, Government of Balochistan. Similarly, it was also decided to constitute a committee for the projects of Loralai Medical College and 500-bedded hospital.

The Secretary Health was directed to review the design of Quetta Dental College afresh.
