High level changes already made: Jam Kamal vows to bring obvious improvement in health department

Chief Minister consults health functionaries and senior doctors to resolve issues being faced by health sector; asserts there is no room of negligence and leniency in vital sector

The Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has reiterated his government’s resolve to bring marked improvement in the health sector of the province through tangible measures.

“Government would ensure such measures through which improvement is seen in the health sector and the modern and better facilities of treatment are made available to the people at their doorstep.”

The Chief Minister was speaking at the crucial meeting held to review the matters related to the health, cleanliness and increase in the treatment facilities particularly in the public sector hospitals of the provincial capital, here on Monday.

The basic objective behind the meeting was to bring improvement through important changes in the health sector.

Those who were in attendance at the meeting were included the Medical Superintendent of all the government hospitals operating in Quetta including Sandeman Provincial Headquarter Hospital, Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Helpers Hospital, Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Benazir Hospital, Fatima Jinnah Chest and General Hospital and Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital, heads of various departments of the hospitals besides Secretary Finance, Noorul Haq Baloch, Secretary Communication and Works, high ups of Health Department, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Abdul Razzaq Cheema, Commissioner Quetta, Usman Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner and other concerned.

The Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Health, made consultation with the participants especially with senior doctors to resolve the issues being faced by the health sector and bring improvement in state of the public sector hospitals of province.

He also sought their opinions on the basis of their experiences and observations.

During the meeting, there was a thorough discussion on the matters pertaining to budget of the hospitals, human resources, financial and administrative powers, MSD, availability of the medicines and maintenance of the medical equipment and machinery.

There was complete consensus in the meeting that the state of hospitals can be improved by increasing the financial and administrative powers of the medical superintendents, increase in the budgets of hospitals and with transfer of powers at the lower level in health sector.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the public monitors the performance of health sector and that of the hospitals and then it also expresses its opinion openly, if their (hospitals) performance would be better, it would be appreciated and if improvement and changes were not seen, then it would be criticized too, he added.

The Chief Minister on the occasion also mentioned that important and high level changes have been made in the health department with the aim to come up to the expectations of general public.

He asserted that no political pressure would be allowed on the department so that its administrative officers and doctors may perform their duties without any pressure.

The Chief Minister on the occasion assured to resolve all the issues as pinpointed by the senior doctors in the meeting.

He said that the government has provided special package and other facilities to the doctors, and as such in return, we have lot of expectations from the doctors as well and they would come up to the expectations through bringing improvement in their performance and serious attitude.

The Chief Minister warned that there’s no room of negligence, carelessness and leniency in the health sector at all.

CS would head committee to review rules & regulations of Health department: CM

The Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has stated that a committee to be headed by Chief Secretary Balochistan would be formed to review the laws as well as rules and regulations of the health department. There would also be representation of senior doctors in the committee, he maintained while chairing a high level meeting to review the state of health affairs in the province on Monday.

The secretary Communication and Works, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, Secretary Finance, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, besides senior high ups of the Health department, heads of different public sector hospitals of Quetta and senior doctors were in attendance at meeting.

The Chief Minster issued directives to the Secretary C&W to prepare PC-I for construction and repair of the government hospitals at the earliest.

Moreover, he directed to the DIG Police to take necessary steps for security of the hospitals of Quetta.

The SNE be presented for special appointment of the security personnel for the public sector hospitals, he directed to DIG Police further.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister announced to hold fortnightly meeting to review the matters of health sector in the province.

He issued directives to submit recommendations for making necessary amendments in the policy of MSD for purchase of medicines besides giving powers of making purchase of necessary medicines and recruitments of technicians on contract basis to the hospitals.
