A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Federal and Balochistan Provincial government for setting up a Shipyard in Gwadar at a ceremony held in Quetta today.

The Deputy Secretary Federal Ministry of Defence Production and the Provincial Secretary Industries signed the memorandum.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan said that the province will move towards financial self-reliance by Gwadar Shipyard project. He added that the shipyard project will not affect the local population of Gwadar

Talking to the media on the occasion, the Federal Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal said that the establishment of a Shipyard in Gwadar will boost the economy of the province and create employment opportunities for the youth of Balochistan.

She added that the federal government has taken up the responsibility of providing basic amenities to the local population of Gwadar. Zubaida Jalal further said that the youth of the province will be imparted vocational training related to shipyards at Gwadar Training Institute and Karachi Shipyard.
