344 projects to be completed this year: P&D Department accords sanction of Rs. 40 billion for various projects in Balochistan

Jam Kamal asserts no compromise to be made on timely completion of development projects, quality of work

 

The Planning and Development Department, Government of Balochistan has accorded authorization of around Rs. 40 billion for the ongoing and new development projects in second quarter of the current financial year.

According to the official sources, as many as 344 out of the total ongoing projects included in the development programme would be completed during the current financial year while 210 ongoing projects would also be completed within the stipulated time after the verification process removing the obstacles in their completed.

The necessary detail in this regard was shared in a high level meeting held with the Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan in the chair here on Monday.

The Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development, Abdul Rehman Buzdar briefed the meeting in detail about the progress into the development projects in the province.

Those who in attendance were included the Provincial Minister for Finance, Mir Zahor Ahmed Buledi, Minister C&W, Mir Arif Jan Muhammad Hassani, Advisor to Chief Minister for Education, Mir Muhammad Khan Lehri, Advisor for Sports, Youth Affairs, Culture and Archive, Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Parliamentary secretary Ms. Bushra Rind besides administrative secretaries of various departments.

The meeting also reviewed the pace of work on 77 priority projects of various departments including Health, Education, Urban Planning and development, Fisheries, Sports and Youth Affairs.

The meeting was briefed by the health department authorities about the projects of establishing the basic health units and rural health centers up to Tehsil level. Similarly, the Education authorities briefed the meeting about the projects of construction of new schools in the province.

Moreover, the sports and youth affairs authorities briefed the meeting about the project of construction of sports complex in all districts of the province.

The meeting was also apprised about the projects of promotion of echo tourism in the coastal areas as well as the Balochistan Green Boat Scheme besides the establishment of tourism centers.

While on the other hand, the Urban Planning and Development department informed about the Apna Ghar Project and master planning of 30 districts of the province.

It was decided in the meeting that all the concerned authorities would be made bound to complete the projects well in time.

It was also directed to ensure timely completion of the sports projects as part of the preparation for the 34th National Games to be held in Quetta.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that we have ended the tradition of releasing development funds in end of the financial year and as such started implementation on the new projects with commencement of the new year ensuring timely release of funds for them.

He made it clear that no compromise would be made on timely and quality completion of the development projects. In this regard, all the concerned authorities would have to demonstrate sense of responsibility, adding he stressed.
