Seminar on transformation of traditional business: We need to mull over how to make coast & resources beneficial for people, says CM

Jam Kamal Khan implores youth to come towards professionalism benefiting from opportunities available to them for trade and business in Balochistan

The Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has stated that we need to mull over how the coast and resources of the province can be beneficial for its people as merely speaking of the resources is not enough.

“We not only need to have thorough information about the resources of the province, but at the same time we also need to develop mechanism to make best use of them so that the investors from all over the world are attracted to them.”

This and similar views were expressed by the Chief Minister while speaking at the awareness seminar and launching ceremony of the transformation of traditional business into Corporate business in Balochistan organized by the Industries and Commerce, Government of Balochistan at the Takato campus of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) on Monday.

The Provincial Minister for Home and PDMA, Mir Ziaullah Langove, Parliamentary Secretary for Minorities Affairs, Dhanesh Kumar, Chief Secretary, Captain (Retd) Fazeel Asghar, pro-Vice Chancellor of BUITEMS besides the students of the concerned departments were present.

The Chief Minister spoke his heart out about the resources of the province and business potential it has abundantly.

He said that we have been hearing about the coast and resources of the province, but we really need to make the best use of them. We need to ponder that how to make the resources of the province useful for its people. Our youth must know about the potential and opportunities available in the province through which they can make their future, adding he stressed.

He said that on one hand, there are immense resources of the province, while at the same time, there is poverty too. The basic reason behind poverty is lack of the mechanism to exploit the resources for well being of the public, he believed.

He said that a proper mechanism is essential to make things happen.

“If the youth wants to initiate their business then they must have complete awareness about the prospects on the basis of which they can start their own business.”

The Chief Minister said that at present there are only four or five trades with which the people are mainly associated. They are included farming, mining, service delivery, etc. While we have long coast where the vast opportunities of tourism exist, we have fisheries sector which has the very much room of catch farming, he mentioned adding that we also have the fruits, tunnel farming, cotton production and so, which can provide ample business opportunities to our youth, he maintained.

The Chief Minister also pointed out towards the very fertile land with no use of artificial fertilizers. As per the agricultural experts, our land is most suitable for cotton and other cash crops, he maintained.

He called on the youth to come towards the professionalism benefitting from the opportunities available to them for trade and business in the province.

He said that the provincial government is paying special attention on human resource and youth development in which six new projects have been prepared.

He said that the government can offer limited jobs to the youth as the concept of giving jobs in the public sector is jut ending up. While on the other hand, the ample job opportunities are available in the private sector where the government facilitates it for the purpose, he said.

The Chief Minister was of the strong view that the business and employment opportunities would boost through the foreign investment and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) mega project in the province.

He said that Balochistan is very important province when it comes to talk about investment in every sector.

He said that the province has capacity to produce 15,000-20,000 megawatt electricity through different means.

Earlier, the Secretary Industries, Ghulam Ali Baloch briefed about the aims and objectives behind the seminar. The high ups of Income Tax and SECP also addressed the seminar.
